The catchment area of USC Norris is the geographic region of Los Angeles County. LA County includes a diverse population defined by race/ethnicity, as well as age, immigration status, acculturation, socioeconomic status, language, and access to health services. Of LA County’s 10 million residents, 34% of adults are born outside of the US (vs. ~14% nationally). The region’s distinctive racial/ethnic profile, which has no majority population, is evident when comparing the percentage of minorities in LA County to the United States as a whole: 47% Hispanic (vs. 18% US), 11% Asian/Pacific Islander (vs. 6% US), 10% Black (vs. 12% US), and 29.4% Non-Hispanic white (vs. 60% US). This diversity creates unique opportunities and challenges that drive the strategic priorities of the Cancer Center and we are proud to serve this unique and vibrant community.
