Topic:
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric malignancy. Patients with obesity treated for ALL suffer increased toxicity, greater relapse, and poorer survival. Obese physiology in the host, and adipocytes in the marrow microenvironment, interact with ALL cells and activate chemotherapy resistance pathways. We will explore these adverse relationships and ongoing efforts to understand and intervene to improve ALL outcomes.
