USC Norris Glass Wash/Autoclave Facility

About Us:

The Glass Wash/Autoclave facility provides support services to faculty and laboratories in the Ezralow Tower, the Norris Topping Tower, the Harlyne Norris Research Tower, and other research buildings on the USC Health Sciences Campus.

These Services Include:

      1. Collection of, and washing and sterilization of, glassware from Norris and non-Norris Principal Investigators’ (PIs’) laboratories located in the 3 Norris research buildings; and return of the glassware to the PIs’ laboratories
      2. Glassware can also be dropped off and picked up directly at the facility by Norris and non-Norris PIs located on the Health Sciences Campus.
      3. All services are provided on a charge-back basis and billed through the FBS system.

Policies and Procedures:

      1. Glass wash personnel will pick up and drop off items from labs twice/day.
        1. First pick up and drop off is between 6:30 – 8:00 AM Monday – Friday.  
        2. Second pick up and drop off is between 10:30 – 11:30 AM Monday – Friday.
      2. Items can be dropped off at the Glass wash Core Facility any time during business hours. Items dropped off outside of the scheduled drop off/pick up times will need to be picked up by a lab member. Note – all items dropped off after 1:00 PM will be baked/autoclaved during the next business day.
      3. All items must be labeled with PI name, building and room number.
      4. All glassware and plastics need to be rinsed and all old labels should be removed.
      5. All items to be autoclaved should have autoclave tape attached.
      6. All requests must be submitted through the online service request form.
