Anna Wu, Ph.D., is a Professor of Preventive Medicine and the Co-Leader of the Cancer Control Research Program.
Dr. Wu received her M.P.H. in public health in 1978 and completed her doctorate in 1983 in epidemiology at the University of California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California. She is Co-Leader of the Cancer Control Research Program.
Dr. Wu’s research focuses on understanding the causes of breast cancer, particularly the rising rates in Asia and among Asian-Americans. She has an active program of research studies including case-control studies of breast cancer in Asian-Americans, cohort studies of breast cancer using the Singapore Chinese Health Study and the Multiethnic Cohort Study, and cross-sectional studies of mammographic density. Dr. Wu is also conducting controlled dietary intervention studies using soy, and green tea in which circulating hormone levels, mammographic density, and biomarkers of breast tissue changes in cell proliferation and apoptosis are investigated. In addition, she is conducting studies to better understand lifestyle and environmental determinants associated with prognosis of breast cancers.
