Mission and Vision

The USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center endeavors to maintain and build upon its status as a major regional and national resource for cancer research, treatment, prevention and education.

In support of this goal, the scientists and physicians of the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center focus on illuminating the most fundamental aspects of cancer. They research and develop prevention and treatment strategies and, potentially, cures.

Using interdisciplinary research groups dedicated to specific cancers gives USC/Norris scientists and physicians an advantage in their quest. Research programs at the USC/Norris are organized by disease - not academic discipline - allowing physicians, epidemiologists, surgeons and cell biologists to work together to pool and apply their knowledge and talents toward solving key questions about specific components of cancer.

Drawing upon its strengths in basic and population-based research, the Norris translates its scientists' underlying expertise into research programs focused on cancers of major consequence to the constituencies we serve in the local, national and international communities.
